Domaine Maumont is situated in the Perigord Vert/Dordogne. An area with forest, part of the Parc Naturel Regional of Perigord/Limousin, a beautiful sloping hilly landscape with several little rivers and small lakes. Everywhere you will find characteristic villages and beautiful little towns.

Close by there is lots to visit, e.g. old chateaux. Many of them are still in good condition or restored in style and open to the public . In Villars at 6 KM you find the Chateau de Puyguilhem and also Chateau de Bourdeilles is not far away. They give you an impression of the medieval lifestyle and in some of them organise the Medieval Knight tournaments. In Châlus at 23 KM you will them in the summertime season.

Brantôme is a beautiful little city. The Dronne river crosses the town and you can rent canoes to ride the little rapids inside the town. It is safe enough to go with small children. When you are at the end of the ride, they will bring you back to your car.

St. Jean de Cole , at 7 km, is one of the hundred most beautiful little villages in France . In the centre you will find a characteristic Romain church . The Chateau de La Marthonie nextdoor is worth a visit.

The Caves of Villars, at 6 KM are well known because of their colourful stalagtites and stalagmites and prehistoric wall paintings.

A little further away you find the bigger cities like Limoges (Porcelain) and Périgueux. The capital city of the Dordogne, Périgueux, is a wonderful mixture of modern city and narrow streets full of pavement cafes, restaurants and clothes shops mixed in with modern statues and fountains.

Walking areas are well marked and at the local Tourist Office you can buy a detailed map. The impressive waterfall on the Dronne river only 8 km away is surely worth visiting.

A horse riding-school and a small lake with sandy beaches is a short distance away.
